Set in the Vale of Glamorgan’s scenic countryside, Wenvoe Castle’s parkland course is recognised as one of the best challenges of golf in Wales.
Designed by five times Open winner James Braid, the par 72, 6514 yard course comprises two loops of nine holes which start and end near the Clubhouse, a magnificent 18th Century Mansion on the site of a former 1700s castle.
The first nine holes enjoy an undulating terrain, providing spectacular views across the Bristol Channel and neighbouring countryside. The second nine are flat, but carefully phased tree planting has ensured an interesting challenge. The course provides an interesting mix of holes, each with their own character, and the tricky slopes and subtle borrows make for a stern but enjoyable test of golf.
The Clubhouse provides a relaxing place to wind down and enjoy a well earned drink, with its external patio offering panoramic views over the course, and the pro-shop is not to be missed.
The attractiveness and quality of the course has attracted more and more players in recent years, with many members achieving golfing honours at the highest level. The club was also the venue for the first Welsh Classic in 1979 which attracted many of the top European golfers.
Wenvoe Castle enjoys a prime location, just 10 minutes from the M4, Cardiff International Airport and Wales’ vibrant capital city.
